As a community responder or when acting in a similar role, you will be first on the scene of an emergency event where a person’s life is in danger and you must act before EMS arrives. Students in this course will learn how to provide immediate care like CPR, administering epinephrine, controlling life-threatening bleeding injuries and other skills to mitigate injuries and casualties. As a student, you will leave this course with confidence in yourself and your team to assist in an emergency, limiting tragic fatalities.
A bleeding injury can happen anywhere. We've all seen it happen too often—on the news or in everyday life. Life-threatening bleeding can happen in people injured in serious accidents or disasters. Instead of being a witness, you can become an immediate responder because you know how to STOP THE BLEED®.
Wilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. With the Wilderness First Aid class, first aid providers in a remote outdoor setting will be better prepared to respond with wilderness first aid training when faced with limited resources, longer times to care for someone, and decisions about when and how fast to evacuate an ill or injured person.
